Fish Hinchinbrook - Australia's Fishing Mecca!!!
The Hinchinbrook area is renowned for it's fabulous fishing, with calm waters and mazes of rivers and waterways with hundreds of species of fish. Whether you prefer to fish in the rivers using live bait, luring on the flats or head on out to the reef for a chance to catch that HUGE fish, there are so many options available to you when you come to Hinchinbrook.
For those without a boat, you can still enjoy fishing from the beach and jetty. With such a wide variety of fish on offer in our waters you are bound to catch something! Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Fingermark, Grunter, Queenfish, Mackeral, Estuary Cod, Bream, Flathead, Salmon, Whiting and also Sand Crabs to name just a few.
Boat ramps: Three easily accessible locations: Port Hinchinbrook, Fishers Landing and Meunga Creek. A fourth ramp is also located at Marine Parade, however this is mainly recommended only for small tinnies.
Here at the Kookaburra we have our own local fishing map which can show you all the popular spots to fish and what you can expect to catch there. We can also provide you with your tide charts and zoning maps. We have a designated fish cleaning area and boat wash off area to make things easy when you arrive back after a big day out.
If you would prefer to explore the channel with a guide or if you don't have a boat, a fishing charter to suit your needs can also be arranged by our helpful staff.
Guests of the Kookaburra have free use of fishing gear to try their luck on the jetty (these are hand lines only and a refundable deposit required).
